Mary Catherine Gibbs is a partner in the firm, where her areas of practice range from zoning, condemnation, and eminent domain, to juvenile law where she previously acted as a guardian ad litem in abuse and neglect cases, as well as representing parties in domestic abuse cases. She received her B.A. degree from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia in 1993 cum laude, and her J.D. degree from T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond in 1997. Ms. Gibbs is a former law clerk to the Honorable Jane Marum Roush, 1997-1999, of the Fairfax County Circuit Court. She is a member of the Virginia Women Attorneys Association, and is Past President of the Northern Virginia Chapter of that organization. 

She is a member of the Alexandria Bar Association, the Virginia State Bar and the Illinois State Bar. Ms. Gibbs is also the former Chair of the City of Alexandria’s Commission for Women, where she was a member between 2002 and 2011. Ms. Gibbs was formerly the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Alexandria Commission for Women and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Sheltered Homes of Alexandria. She was the President of the Douglas MacArthur Elementary School Parent Teacher Association from 2012-2013. She currently lives in Chicago, Illinois with her family and commutes to Alexandria on a regular basis.
